This year, the Fashion Council of Fiji (FCF) partnered with ANZ Fiji and the Fiji Excellence in Tourism Awards to connect the fashion industry to the tourism industry.
Our initiative, the ANZ Fashion ATM featured six FCF designer member’s prints on ATM's. We unveiled the ATM's across Fiji as we counted down to the awards weekend.
And as ever, we watch with anticipation to see who wore what, who wore it better on the red carpet and crown our best dressed for the night.
Here we go!
Star Couplegoes to Anthony and Kolora Mason of Pacific Destinations. There were a lot of handsome couples on the red carpet but the clincher for us was the black dress with the Grecian – esque sash worn by the Head of Products & Reservations, in the words of Karl Lagerfeld “One is never over- or underdressed with a little black dress.” Anthony, the Groups & DMC Team Leader is looking sharp in a black suit and pin stripe tie. Black on black does it for us. Wananavu, Masons.
Kalavata on point, FETA Trustees. They are wearing local designer Samson Lee. We are loving the subtle ‘kalavata’ cumberbunds. Olivia Mavoa looks regal in that short kaftan jacket. Fashion Diplomacy at it's best.
We are also high five-ing Nathan Wilson, Head of Tourism, ANZ for being fashion forward with that Samson Lee, yellow tie! Not a lot of men would brave that yellow on the red carpet, so you get our thumbs up for rocking that tie and wearing Fijian designed and made. Totoka!
What we love about fashion in Fiji is that it’s a huge melting pot of cultures and we never know what to expect on the red carpet and we were instantly drawn to this Salwaar Kameez worn by Dr. Erum Minum. The emerald green with gold detailing fit in with the theme of the night, ‘stars’ of the tourism industry. Gold stars for this ensemble. Elegance personified!
Alice Hunter, General Manager of Party & Event Fiji is stunning in this simple blue sweet heart neckline and that silver bling combination does it for us but she won us over because that hair and make up is on point. Stunning! That silhouette is on fire!
Emily King hits our list because honestly look at the bronze fish tail number, Samson Lee’s prints are stunning in that combination. This is the third Samson Lee look to hit our list and we can say without a doubt that his brand was trending on the red carpet.
Our picks for dapper gentlemen of the night goes to Rene Munch of Uprising Resort, super suave with that devil may care attitude and loose tie, we dig it. Hotel Manager for The Westin Denarau Island Resort & Spa, Mr Martin Zumstein has only been in Fiji for under a month and already has the ladies swooning and nothing says URO like an expensive cut, black suit, very sharp Mr. Rumstein. Designer, lai Jikoiono, was dashing in that double breasted suit and one can never go wrong with all black, come through Johnny Cash!
We were also delighted to showcase the same designers of the ANZ Fashion ATM initiative at the awards night by dressing the #ANZFETAGirls who assisted with the awards on stage.
Congrats to the winners of the night and see you next year.
